FUNDRAISERS
Work-A-Thon
Every fall the students participate in a Work-A-Thon to raise money for the school. The students earn the pledged money by doing community service. Not only does this event raise money for the school, it is an excellent experience in community responsibility and stewardship for the students. This event takes place in early October.
Student involvement: Children take pledges from friends, family, and neighbors, then spend an afternoon in the community working for their pledges. The children in grades 3-6 do yard work, rake lawns, and pick up garbage on the school and church grounds and throughout Meire Grove for any residents that request help. Children in grades K-2 pick up garbage on the school and church grounds as well as throughout the entire town of Greenwald.
Parent involvement: Parent volunteers are asked to chaperone and assist students during the Workathon.
Steak & Wine Dinner & Benefit Auction
The Steak and Wine is the school's largest fundraiser and always a very fun and successful event. Held in mid-February, this fundraiser is coordinated by the parents and includes a wonderful meal prepared and served by parents with assistance from school staff members. An auction follows the meal with auctioneering services provided by Col. Dan Winter. The auction features well over 100 items including a wide variety of items for the farm, home, children, and many handmade items. Some of the most popular items are the student quilts. The Steak and Wine has been taking place for over 20 years continues to be a highlight for the school, parishes, and community.
Parent involvement: This event is completely coordinated by parents and all parents are expected to work the night of the event. There are also numerous committees that parents can participate on, with leadership opportunities as chairs and co-chairs of these committees. The committees are:
· General chair, co-chair
